Rashifal — Daily Horoscope by Moon Sign
Why Vedic predictions follow the Moon sign rather than the Sun, how the daily, weekly and monthly readings differ, how to find your Rashi from your birth details, and where a sign-level reading stops being enough.
Rashifal follows the Moon, not the Sun
The horoscope column in a newspaper is usually Sun-sign based. Vedic Rashifal is read from the Rashi — the sign the Moon occupied when you were born. The Moon changes sign about every two and a quarter days, so your Rashi often differs from the Western sun sign you already know. Predictions are built around the Moon because in this tradition it governs the mind, mood and daily experience, which is what a daily reading is about.
- Mesha (Aries), Vrishabha (Taurus), Mithuna (Gemini), Karka (Cancer)
- Simha (Leo), Kanya (Virgo), Tula (Libra), Vrishchika (Scorpio)
- Dhanu (Sagittarius), Makara (Capricorn), Kumbha (Aquarius), Meena (Pisces)
Daily, weekly and monthly are different readings
They are not the same text at different lengths. A daily reading follows the Moon's transit for that day and reads as mood, timing and small decisions. A weekly reading works from the faster planets and is better for planning. A monthly reading leans on slower movement — Sun, Mars, Venus and Mercury changing signs — and describes a theme rather than a day. Reading all three for the same week usually explains contradictions that one alone cannot.
How to find your Rashi
Your Rashi comes from your date, time and place of birth, because it depends on where the Moon was. If you know your Moon sign already, you can read straight away and no login is needed. If you do not, the Moon sign calculator works it out from your birth details, and it will also show your Sun sign and Ascendant, which are the other two signs people are usually asked for.
What a general Rashifal can and cannot tell you
A sign-level reading is shared by everyone born under that Moon sign, so it describes the weather, not your particular day. It is genuinely useful for timing and for noticing a pattern, and it stops being useful the moment it is asked to answer something personal. For that the reading has to come from your own chart — your houses, your dasha period, your transits — which is a different thing from a Rashifal and is where a full birth-chart reading starts.
Frequently asked questions
- Is the Rashifal free on 101 Pandit?
- Yes. Daily, weekly and monthly readings by Moon sign are free and need no login — pick your sign and read. Readings built on your own birth chart are the premium part.
- Why is my Rashi different from my zodiac sign?
- The sign you usually know is the Sun sign from Western astrology. Rashi is the Moon sign in the Vedic (sidereal) system. Both the method of measurement and the planet used are different, so the two often disagree.
- Can I listen to the reading instead of reading it?
- Yes. Readings can be played aloud in Hindi or English, which is useful when you would rather listen on the way to work than read on a screen.
- Is Rashifal available in Hindi?
- Yes. The whole app runs in Hindi and English, and the readings are generated in the language you choose rather than machine-translated afterwards.
- How often is the daily Rashifal updated?
- Once every day. The reading for a date is prepared for that date and is the same for everyone who shares that Moon sign.
